Good morning fashionistas. I apologize for the delay in posting the winners of the ticket give away. I seem to have suffered a migraine yesterday. If a debilitating headache that renders you completely useless and nautious is a migraine, that is. I promise I didn't blow you off so that I could shop the latest sales. Though I wouldn't fault you for wondering.

Who is going to the West 18th Street Fashion Show? Hopefully all you you! However, one lucky reader of our weekly Haute Buzz newsletter is going for free.
The West 18th Street Fashion Show is an eclectic Kansas City tradition. A theatrical show that will delight your peepers for certain. You must attend this event to truly be a fashionista.

Fashion Disaster

Oh My GAWD!!! I am so glad that I'm heading back home today because I cannot sit through another fashion show this week. Last night's St. Louis Fashion Week show had so many designers showing that it was passed most of the models' curfews by the time the show was over.
It doesn't help that the shows all start late, but when one tries to cram more than a handful of designers in a single night, you are setting yourself up for disaster.
What is really unfortunate is that a large part of the crowd just up and left! There were a few fantastic, up and coming, designers that were showing toward the last half of the show and I think they really got gypped.

Jamie Phyl and I got to talk briefly before the fashion show . What a great young lady and fabulous designer. She told me that her inspiration for some of the collection showing at St. Louis Fashion Week was the fabulous Jackie O. And oh my...it certainly showed in this fabulous yellow ensemble, complete with large, fabric-covered buttons. It's easy to see why Jamie is gaining notoriety very quickly around the country!

I also loved designs by ZETO, English Clientele and Sohung Designs. Photos, video and hopefully some interviews will be ready for you next week on the Haute Market Style File page.

My sources tell me that backstage was an unorganized mess with too many inexperienced interns trying to run things. Other than the tardiness of the show, you could not tell that things were amiss because what the designers sent down the runway was, for the most part, executed flawlessly. The models rocked the catwalk! Those poor girls were hungry, tired and walking in shoes that did not fit. Several fell out of the shoes but those pro's kept on walking like nothing happened. Kudos to them all!
Designers...my heart goes out to you. I can only hope that the trunk shows you are holding this week give people a chance to really see your designs and appreciate your efforts.

If you are in St. Louis today, make sure you stop by The Time Boutique from 12-4pm to see the work of Phyl Couture, ZETO, Sohung and many others.

I'm heading home to KC now. Hopefully I'll be back to visit you soon, St. Louis. Haute Market is hot to get here and show the St. Louis fashionistas a good time!

Eye Candy

I thought I'd get the week off to a great start with a little bit of eye candy.
Fashion Week was only a few weeks ago but the fashion world seems to have already moved on. Not me, I'm still reeling.
Little did I know, as I was crashing the R. Scott French show and making my way to the front row, that I'd be treated not only to some interesting menswear designs, but the boys of Make Me A Supermodel. Not to mention that I was sitting across the catwalk from Niki Taylor and Tyson Beckford. It was smokin' hot in that room baby!

Fashion Week Buzz

I'm back from New York Fashion Week with loads of photos and video of the shows, the celebrities and the fab fashion forecast. It was such a treat to be among such fabulous fashion guru's and I can't wait to see all the Fall 08 fashions in the stores. Unfortunately that's a season away, but you can still enjoy the upcoming trends now.

Belts were definitely a common theme among the designers. The BCBGMAXAZRIA collection was all belted, not to mention beautifully feminine with it's soft flowing silk fabrics and muted jewel tone colors, plus lots of dresses and skirts. I love the bubble skirts with a peek-a-boo layer underneath of a brighter color. One outfit had a beige tone with a pink layer under. Very fun!
Many of the pieces featured layered ruffles. I know...it sounds crazy, but with such a soft fabric like silk, it laid well and looked fantastic!
It was a packed house as we all sat in anticipation of another successful show from the amazing Max. He definitely lived up to the expectations!

Stay tuned for more reviews this week. The fabulous Betsey Johnson had a heart pumping show and I'm working on some video of it to show you later this week!

Fashion Friday

Hello fashionista's. This is your KC Fashionista writing from NYC! Right now New York is wet, wet, wet. But not even a little rain can deter me from my goal of getting into some fab fashion shows.

The most amazing show this morning was opened by non other than Mrs. Laura Bush! I'd seen her on tv this morning promoting heart disease awareness for women. You've surely seen the little red dress logos.
I was thinking to myself as I waited for the Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection, that it would be so cool if Laura Bush was there. Well...she was. And showing off the beautiful red dresses were loads of fabulous female stars.

The audience gasped and cheered as each woman strutted down the aisle. Allison Janney is one of my favorites from the hit series, The West Wing. She was amazingly elegant in a fitted red gown by Donna Karan.
Sara Rimirez, Dr. Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy, looked like a bombshell in her Angel Sanchez gown and my did she strut her stuff!
It was so amazing to see these women in a different light, having a fun time rocking the runway. It was absolutely something you'd expect of New York.
But I never expected Liza Minnelli to float down the runway and I most certainly did not ever dream I would see and hear her LIVE, singing New York, New York. What a treat!

I have so many great photos and videos already. Check the Fashion 411 blog daily to see what's going on in the big apple and the fashion world!
