My trusty UPS guy dropped off another box. Honestly, I had no idea what it was.
The Haute Market event had just passed and that usually means the constant door bell ringing would too cease.
At further inspection it was revealed that the box was yet another from Avelle - the new Bag Borrow or Steal. That's odd. I just returned the fashion show bags to them.
Oh dear....some people drink and dial.....did I drink and online shop again? It happens.

I tore into the box. Oh yes...I borrowed a Betsey Johnson bag. Yet I could not remember which one. As I opened the dust bag the shiny black patent leather bag shone back at me. My heart started pounding and my breath fell short....it was ADORABLE! My gawd I have good taste! The Betsey Johnson Ms. Mod rooomy hobo is better in person than online. This great tote is adorned with a sweater-like scarf that snakes in and out of the sides of the bag and ties in a neat little bow at the front. I am in love. You'd better hope they have more in stock because this borrowed bag has become stolen! (only $40 per month w/ membership!)

I found a few items at Forever 21 a few weeks ago which inspired the idea to do a piece on fashion finds, outfits under $100. Not exactly my forte' as of late, but we all need a challenge.

It was the first time I shopped the store and I wasn't sure I could make it through the racks and racks of clothing. However with my eagle-eye ready I went on a mission and pulled out some pieces that could be used for work, for cocktails and more. Pieces that could pass for a higher priced item, rather than the under $30 versions that they are.

I paired it with a white top with a bit of a ruffle down the front and a chic thin black belt at the waist. I couldn't find it online, but did spot a similar style/fit at forever21.com for $19.80.

Part of the challenge is the fit. An expensive item still looks bad on you if it's not the right fit. Don't try to hide parts of your body with baggy clothes. Learn the right shapes and sizes and work with the right silhouette.

Now the fun part, accessorizing. Since I saved such a bundle on the clothes I figured that my hard worked earned a splurge on accessories and extras. However, your fashionista knows how to shop. I found a beautiful pashmina/silk scarf at Frankie & Jules for just $20. A fabulous half-trench jacket at Deegie's Carma, which in the current sale was about $30, down from around $70!!!

Next is the real kicker. The Prada bag that I borrowed. Yes, borrowed! Not from a girlfriend, but from Bag, Borrow or Steal. It's my 5th or so bag from them and I love the concept. I search for the bags I want and borrow them for as long as I like. Instead of dropping $180+0 for a similar style in brown I found at Neiman Marcus, I used a coupon at Bag Borrow or Steal and have the precious purple bag for a month for a mere $150! Depending on the day, I could be obsessing over shoes or bags...it's a toss up. Today, it's bags. After spending a gagillion on bags and being totally busted by my hubby, I've turned to an old friend Etsy.com, in search of emerging designers with fab style sense and eye for detail (not to mention price tags that won't get me the third degree).

I adore this wallet by Cotton Purr. This designer, out of Georgia, has more than her southern flair going for her. The construction looks fantastic. I love the colors that are spot on for Spring trend matching. It even has 6 card slots that can hold 2-3 cards each! You mean I can carry all the kids' dental cards, health insurance cards, my driver's license and 1/2 dozen credit cards? You're singing my song sister! This is WAY more trendy than the boring COACH wallet I've been carrying and a way better price. At just $34 each...I can afford this and not wince each time I spill coffee on it.
