It's almost here fashionistas. To my knowledge, the longest running fashion show in Kansas City...the West 18th Street Fashion Show! Recipe includes a handful of creativity, a pinch of edgy, a dash of wacky and a whole lot of fun.
This year's show is titled "Summer in Space".
“The theme really draws everyone in. Instead of a blank slate, it gives the designers a creative platform, and it provides a narrative for the audience to
follow," says Peregrine Honig, Co-Producer and owner of Birdies.
The annual event will bring together eighteen established and emerging designers, featuring returning designer Ariadne Fish, who has recently been gaining notoriety both locally and nationally. Fish, a Kansas City Art Institute graduate, will display her unique brand of powerful, avant-garde fashion. The show will also feature perennial favorites Jovana Mirabile (New York); Joscelyn Himes (awarded KC Magazine’s 2008 Best Local Fashion Designer); Peggy Noland (featured in Rolling Stone, Elle, and Spin); Birdies Panties and Swimwear Boutique located on 18th Street, and more.
“We’re honored that successful Kansas City designers who have been able to use our show as a starting off point for their careers continue to return to our runway,” says Executive Producer, Ashlee Broome.
Prominent local theatre actor Corrie Van Ausdal will host the event. Local artist, musician, and jazz ringleader, Mark Southerland, will be the musical director.
The event is free and open to the public, with a limited number of VIP seats available for purchase. http://www.westeighteenthstreet.com/
